Shannyn

I’m useless for the rest of the day. It’s a good thing that the Tenth-Floor Asshole made his move in the morning, because if he’d tried it after lunch I might have just dreamily opened the elevator doors for him.

I check my watch and discover I’ve got fifteen minutes left. I try not to let out a frustrated sigh, but I can’t help it, so I try to make it look like a yawn.

Which, now that I think about it, probably isn’t much better.

Rust is picking up his tools for the day, and I indulge myself by watching him for a bit. The man is a work of art. I can’t wait to see what he looks naked.

Nope, Shannyn. Not here.

The responsible part of me is trying to keep me in line, but how can it possibly hope to compete with Rust’s biceps?

I spend the next few minutes fantasizing about Rust casually throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me to bed.

“Penny for your thoughts?”

I jerk my head up, surprised at how lost I was in the fantasy. Rust is grinning at me.

“Hell, I’ll offer to buy dinner for your thoughts. They looked like real good ones.”

All I do around this man is blush.

“You said dinner?” I ask. Honestly, I’d rather just order delivery, but I can sit through a meal if he wants.”

“Are you more pizza or Chinese?” he asks.

“I’ll admit to a veggie lo mein addiction.”

“It’s settled, then. We can order when we get to your place?”

I nod. A glance at my watch tells me that, thankfully, it’s time to leave.

The receptionist for the evening shift arrives then, and I grab my basket and step from behind the desk.

Rust takes the basket from me and slides his free arm around my waist.. “How do you normally get home?” he asks.

“Subway.”

He stops for a moment. “You mean to tell me you wrangled this enormous basket onto the subway?”

I shrug. “It wasn’t that bad.”

“Well, you’re sure as hell not taking the subway home. Come on. I’ve got a truck.”

Of course he does. I bet he even has a toolbox in the back. I let him lead me down to the parking garage, and then to his truck.

Toolbox. Check.

It’s an extended cab, so he puts the basket behind the passenger seat, then offers me his hand as I step up into the truck. He kisses my hand before he lets go, and I know I must have the most ridiculous smile on my face.

He moves to the driver’s side and climbs in. “Here, program your address in,” he says, handing me his phone with the GPS app open. I do, and he takes the phone and secures it on the stand attached to his dash.
